Child’s Play captures the precise heartbeat of growing up Black in the city — the stoop conversations, the matching barrettes and polka-dot dresses, the buildings watching like elders who have seen generations skip, laugh, jump, repeat.

The figures stretch in all directions, limbs cartooned into memory:

loose, lively, sun-warmed, unstoppable.

Rowhouse reds, playground greens, and daisy yellows form a backdrop of neighborhood belonging — days when the streets were safe enough to be our entire world.
